Combining her passion for sewing and everything Hello Kitty, my daughter had a ‘Hello Kitty Sewing Machine’ on her Christmas wish list. I had mixed feelings about this. To my knowledge, Hello Kitty makes a lot of toy sewing machines but none that would qualify as the real thing and like most avid sewers I’m not too fond of dinky toy machines even if it is for a 9 year old who is just learning to sew.

Toy sewing machines can be frustrating to work it and are more likely than not to kill the interest of the most enthusiast beginner. I would much prefer to spend a little more and buy a basic model from one of the more reputed brands- Singer, Pfaff or Brother.  But, before I said anything out aloud I decided to look around and see whether there was any Hello Kitty sewing machine that I approved of.  My search was interesting to say the least.

A Disappointing Start to My Search for Hello Kitty Sewing Machines

I started off at Amazon.com. They stock two models – the Chainstitch Sewing Machine priced at less than $20 and the Lockstitch Sewing Machine at a little less than $60. Both machines come in a bright pink color that all little girls are sure to love. Both models have mixed reviews from people who had bought them – some good and some bad, and that made me even more hesitant about the brand.

Bingo! Found the Hello Kitty Sewing Machine I Was Looking For!

Browsing around some more, I came across the . Surprisingly, I hadn’t heard of this model before but it looked interesting so I dug a little deeper and what I read was impressive – great price, features that I like in a sewing machine and best of all, it was manufactured by Janome and had fantastic reviews by everyone who bought it. I ordered one, gift wrapped it and left it under the Christmas tree and the rest as they say is history!

Cheerful, Efficient And Affordable

Priced at less than $200, the Hello Kitty Sewing Machine 11706 is a great starting sewing machine for a beginner. What my daughter loves most about her machine is its cheerful two-toned green color with little flowers scattered across its body. What I love are its useful features.
